Client: City of Oakland with funding from the California Public Utility Commission Scope: Provide energy efficiency design assistance to Oakland businesses.
kW Engineering provided energy efficiency design assistance to businesses within the City of Oakland as part of the City's 2001 Energy Efficiency Design Assistance (EEDA) program. This state-funded initiative was designed to help businesses be more energy efficient by providing free technical assistance to architects, developers, and other design team members. kW Engineering teamed with Energy Solutions, who provided marketing, outreach, and program administration. ResultsThe program provided technical assistance to projects totaling over 4.5 million square feet and identified energy savings measures totaling over 4,600 MWh of annual savings. An independent measurement and verification consultant verified that measures adopted by program participants exceeded program goals by over 30%. Projected Savings
Program Renewed through 2003Based on the success of the 2001 program, the EEDA program has been funded through December 2003 by the CPUC under the umbrella of the Oakland Energy Partnership Program. kW Engineering will again serve as the project's technical assistance lead. The 2002-2003 program started in September 2002. |
